RouteRabbit was founded with the intent to launch compelling cloud based route optimization solutions. Even the company name was slanted thus. But, on several occasions when researching needs with customers, the conversation veered towards software talent acquisition.
Customers appeared to have real needs but were facing stiff challenge in attracting software talent to bring their vision to reality – even resorting to hiring offshore talent had often turned out to be spotty. When they heard about RoutRabbit’s disciplined approach to hiring hardcore software talent via coding competitions, they were blown away and seemed ready to engage RouteRabbit.
So, we asked ourselves the logical question, why not give the customer what they want? This resulted in launching our SaaS and mobile app development service. The rest is history!

We like Slack and Trello to manage software processes and our weapons of choice for development includes Android Studio, Xcode and NetBeans IDEs.

We have consciously remained a small shop. For good reasons. We have realized that software talent is not so common. We challenge job applicants, among other things, with our library of coding problems and have had to literally screen hundreds before making a hire! [On the other hand, we are amazed to read in the news that leading service providers have hired thousands of software engineers in the same time – we must be living on different planet!]
Anyways, we are convinced about our approach to talent acquisition. We strive to remain faithful to the cliché, ‘quality is number one’!

Our team of software talent is cranky when they are starved of challenges. Throw them an intractable problem and they are galvanized into action. For example, on a recent SaaS project, we were faced with a situation wherein there was dependence on an external geocoding API that had a small probability of failure. But, the data from the external API was very critical for reliability of the SaaS app. So, our software engineers quickly built a fall back API integration to a second service to mitigate failure.
